Why this exists
A meaningful next chapter is a large idea. Choosing one experiment is a smaller action. This notebook connects the two by asking what matters, what to try, and how to check the result.
It is being developed as part of this website’s starter kit. The prototype is now implemented; it has not yet been validated through Symon’s ongoing use or reader testing.
What it does
- Turns a few answers into an experiment brief.
- Makes room for actual results, costs, corrections, and a next decision.
- Exports a plain-text Markdown file that can be kept elsewhere.
- Offers explicit saving in the current browser and a way to clear that saved copy.
- Provides JSON export/import for moving a saved notebook between devices.
What AI helped with
Codex helped draft the questions and build the website implementation. The notebook itself runs ordinary browser code. It does not call an AI service or send the reader’s answers to Symon.
What still needs testing
The useful question is whether these prompts help someone make and assess a small experiment. The interface working is only the first check. Try it with one real task, observe where the wording gets in the way, and simplify it from that evidence.
Borrow the pattern
Use a short brief, a concrete check, and an explicit keep/change/stop decision. The blank notebook and roadmap worksheet are available without an account.
